2016 - 2017 Season

LUCKY STIFF

Book and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Music by Stephen Flaherty
Directed by Elizabeth McFaul

A murder throws English shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon into a chaotic adventure: taking his dead uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo in exchange for a $6 million dollar inheritance. As if keeping hands and eyes off a sunglasses-wearing corpse weren’t worrisome enough, the duo are being trailed by others intent seizing on the dead man’s fortune! A crazy band of lunatics, a jilted mistress, and the threat of the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn taking the cash makes this a silly musical farce that you won’t want to miss!

IMMIGRATION ACTS

One Officer's Experiences by Arthur J. Vaughn
The Komagatu Maru Incident by Sharon Pollock
Directed by Diana Lobb

Immigration Acts stages the Canadian split personality regarding immigration—priding ourselves on national multiculturalism, while sometimes being xenophobic, if not profoundly racist, when addressing "immigrant" issues—in two one act plays. The multicultural Canada is made to site beside the racist Canada. The audience is placed in the position of negotiating between the generous, tolerant vision of Canada in "One Officer's Experiences" and the white supremacist, intolerant vision of Canada in "The Komagata Maru Incident."
