Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre
June One Act Play Weekends
Angel vs. Demon Written and directed by Michael Mercy
ANGEL vs DEMON is a one-act comedy documenting the eternal struggle between an Angel of light and a Demon of darkness, from the fiery inception of creation to the cold, stuffy courtroom of Judge Lewis T. Stone. When brute force doesn't vanquish your arch enemy, you take 'em to court!
You never say the Scottish play Written by Gary Peterson and directed by Chuck McPhail
As a group of actors prepare to audition, they must go through the rites of atonement for invoking the Scottish Play. Will the curse be lifted?
Street Justice: Musical Justice 2: Sequel Justice: Justice!!! Written by Michael Kearns and Anthony Lajoie and directed by Michael Kearns
The detective tandem of the Street Justice returns to KWLT after a four-year hiatus. In this completely unneeded and superfluous sequel, the pair must confront their arch nemesis, perhaps for the final time, all while dealing with a mysterious new evil genius. Featuring over 80% new jokes, and all new songs sure to make your ears enter nirvana, if only for a brief moment, Street Justice: Musical Justice 2: Sequel Justice: Justice is sure to make you leave feeling you’ve just watched a play, sort of.
Auditions: March 29, 30, 31
Performances: Jun 3, 4, 5*; 10, 11, 12*. 8pm shows all nights, with additional 2pm matinees on Saturday the 5th and 12th.
November One Act Play Weekends (2009)
Reason
One gun, one letter, one rule – survive. Four men wake up in a state of shock trapped in an unidentifiable room. They soon discover they have been placed in this rule with a purpose: to discover how they are all linked – and because of these links, why three of them must die. Reason is a dramatic and horrific performance which delves into the basic instincts of humanity, including justice, equity and sheer survival instinct.
Romeo and Juliet (A One Act Comedy) written by William Shakespeare and adapted and directed by Tim Jackson
The Troupe of Seven Players is a wandering band of actors. Led by the Comedian, they are in good spirits but often in need of work. Watch as the Troupe acts out Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", perhaps cutting a corner or two, to the condensed version as read by the Narrator. The Troupe of Seven players is a creation inspired from David Pinski's one act play, "A Dollar".
The Original Last Wish Baby written by William Seebring and directed by Rob LeGood
The Original Last Wish Baby is a fast-paced, high energy look at society's growing fascination with sensationalist, blown-out-of-proportion, larger than life media stories. When a baby is born, lacking a heart but fully alive, nothing about the incident is left unexploited. Filled with dark humour, unexpected moments of comedy, and an unapologetic level of American patriotism, The Original Last Wish Baby is guaranteed to get you to want to buy the t-shirt, the DVD, as well as the special edition, 75th anniversary collector's spoon set.
Performances: November 5, 6, 7; 12, 13, 14. 8pm all nights, and Saturday matinees at 2pm.
The show will go on at the newly rebuild Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre at 9 Princess St. East in Uptown Waterloo. Map: tinyurl.com/9princess
