The year is 1183 and an aging Henry II, King of England, Lord of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and half of what is now France, has called his not-so-loving family together for a Christmas Court. He's also invited his mistress, Alais (who's betrothed to his son) and her half-brother Philip, the young King of France. The reason: Henry has decided to reveal which of his sons will succeed him as King of his great empire. Will it be Richard the Lionheart? Geoffrey? John? Young Johnny has always been Henry's favourite. However, Richard is the favourite of Henry's wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and her ten year imprisonment by Henry has only made her a more dangerous adversary. Is Geoffrey even in the running? Who will be the first to try to make a deal with Philip, and who will he eventually side with?
Full of intrigue, political maneuvering, and a little treachery, the evening has all the makings of a true "Battle Royal".
