About the shows:
Blind Woman's Bluff
Written by Janet S. Tiger
Directed by Maureen Kienapple
This clever, award-winning tale has it all: suspense, comic dialogue,
stage action and a satisfying and hilarious surprise ending! A young
thief arrives at the home of a blind woman who lives on an isolated
bluff, ostensibly answering an ad about a chair for sale. Since the ad
mentioned the woman was blind and lived alone, John plans on pulling
off an easy heist. But while he's there, Myra strikes up friendly
conversation, cracks jokes and treats him like her own son. John
starts to feel guilty about his plan to rob the lady blind. But when
the old woman brings out a jar full of cash, asking if he'd like to
donate to the charity organization for the blind, he can't resist
helping himself to the wad of cash the next chance he gets. But wait!
Myra's not the vulnerable victim John thinks she is. Find out for
yourself how a shrewd old woman pulls the wool over the eyes of a wolf
in sheep's clothing in this exceptional comedy with two outstanding,
well-developed character roles.
Canadian Gothic
Written by Joanna McClelland Glass
Directed by Janelle Mifflin
A moving and imaginatively conceived study of love and loss by one of
Canada's most highly regarded playwrights, which earned the unique
distinction of being presented by two of Off-Broadway's most
outstanding producing groups The Manhattan Theatre Club (two seasons)
and The Phoenix Theatre. "She has an original voice, and a quizzical
way of looking at the world." —NY Times. "It is a simple tale, simply
and movingly told in the manner that reminded me of the art of Willa
Cather." —Newsday.
Red Crimson
Written and Directed by Michael Kearns
"It was a cold night in the mean city, real cold… the kinda cold that
made every part of your body shiver- especially your ears. Yeah it was
cold alright- real cold, and real alright." – Red Crimson
If you understood any of that, you might enjoy Red Crimson. This
non-award winning play, written and directed by local gadabout Michael
Kearns, follows the adventures of Gumshoe Detective Red Crimson as he
attempts to solve a cold blooded murder in cold blood. Full of
hilarious hijinks and wacky adventures – its fun for the whole
family!!! (Suitable for adults only)
Performances Dates:
February 22-24, St. Jacobs Church Theatre
