Job Description

We are auditioning for our Medieval Feast occuring April 12, 2008 in Elora
Ontario. We are looking for specialty performers(jugglers, musicians,
singers, dancers, etc.), actors and a number of volunteer roles.  The
auditions will take place on Saturday December 1 from 12:00 til 5pm at The
Delhi Community Centre, 65 Delhi Street, Guelph, Ontario.  Parking and
entrance at the rear, look for the signs.  The read through and meet and
greet will occur in early December withrehearsals beginning in January.

Requirements

Specialty Performers:
Please prepare a 2-3 minute piece based on your specific talent.

Singers please bring a CD with your music or feel free to sing acapella. The
song should be Medieval/Renaissance, or have that feeling. ( Lorrena
McKennitt, Enya, Clannad, etc.)

Actors: Please prepare one comic piece 2 minutes in length and one dramatic
piece 2 minutes in length. Please do not pick Shakespeare unless you are
very strong with it. Keep  it simple as we want to see your talent not you
struggling with something unfamiliar. You may be asked to do only one piece.

Additional Information

The setting is 12th century England at the time of the third Crusade led by
King Richard. Newly elevated to the rank of Baron by King Richard, Baron
Blackthorn has returned to England to claim his new lands and to raise
troops for the continuing conflicts in France and the Holy Lands. Of course,
this is a celebration and revelry will abound despite a dark undercurrent of
intrigue.  All costumes, props, decoration and atmosphere will be restricted
to this time period.

Blackthorn Productions is NON-UNION and an honorarium will be paid at the
end of the Feast.

Organization Description
Blackthorn Productions is a not for profit organization that specializes in
medieval education and entertainment. Our purpose is to dispel common
misconceptions about the middle ages. We endeavor to educate through the
medium of entertainment using "living history presentations." Through a
program that includes festivals, live theatre, educational programs,
workshops and customized presentations, Blackthorn Productions provides a
complete, fun filled family oriented experience. Coincidentally, this time
period is part of the current grade 4 social studies curriculum in Canadian
elementary schools.
