Which begs a certain question: Who wants to perform? October turned into a pretty great show (despite the last-minute advertising) and November is usually pretty fantastic, so I hope we'll see lots of you out for it. E-mail us if you want to get in on this one. Cheers! Message-ID: <75f619430811071210j56fe84d7m80ab0b8c6dc5d7f3@mail.gmail.com> Naked, by Lea Daniel. A Staged Reading. Followed by reception and cash bar Friday, November 7. At the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo. Lost & Found Theatre presents a unique opportunity to experience theatre from the inside: a staged reading of Naked, the latest work by local playwright Lea Daniel. A roving brother returns home to find that one sister has taken to her bed forcing the other to leave her job and assume the role of caregiver. As they engage in a comic battle for control of the household, pasts are explored and memories are challenged. Can a strange paper mache sculpture help broker peace in the escalating conflict? The reading features Lost & Found Theatre ensemble members Kathleen Sheehy and Richard Quesnel, direction by Gary Kirkham. "I've been a fan of Lea's writing style ever since I first read it," says Kirkham. "I love the one act play that Naked was based on, and when Lea told me she wanted to develop a full length version, I knew that Lost & Found would be a great fit for the project." Held at the beautiful Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, this event is an exciting opportunity for audiences to participate in the development of a new piece of theatre. After the performance, engage the actors, director and playwright with your thoughts in a post-performance discussion. Reception with cash bar follows, featuring food and beverages from Hannah's Bella Bistro, Vincenzo's, City Cafe, Brain Food and Starbucks. This event is made possible through the generous support of the Waterloo Region Arts Fund, the Trillium Foundation, the City of Waterloo, the City of Kitchener, Echo Weekly, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and our catering partners. Its characters are among Shakespeare's most memorable: Marcus Brutus, the assassin-hero of the play; Marcus Antonius, his charismatic nemesis; Caesar himself, whose ghost still walks in parliaments, palaces, and public places all over the western world. The play tackles moral dilemmas that are uncomfortably familiar to us today. Is the world changing so fast that we are losing our values? What if our leaders are destroying our culture? Can democracy survive globalization? Would you risk civil war to bring down a dictatorship? How far would you go for your conscience? Your country? Can we be human in politics? In war? What if we get it wrong? In this fast-paced political thriller, Shakespeare challenges us to find our humanity in a shockingly inhumane world. ----- -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The production, set to hit the stage in mid-November, centres around the mad-cap antics of a group of actors struggling to put together a play called Nothing On. The cast of the play-within-a-play consists of one of the most oddball assortment of characters ever gathered behind a curtain and features slamming doors, missing props, romantic missteps, hilariously flubbed lines and virtually every imaginable disaster that could occur onstage, or off. The cast consists of Sheila Bruce, of Drayton; Trent Heipel, of Walkerton; Ginny Hawkrigg-Williams and Barb Illingworth, of Mount Forest and John Hogg, Richard Jaunzemis, Christopher Raftis, and Megan Raftis of Harriston. Audiences can look forward to top-notch, entertainment and non-stop laughs from this production, which is coming together under the expert direction of GWTG stalwart Patrick C. Smith. Noises Off runs Nov. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. A preview performance with special ticket pricing ($10, cash sales at the door only), will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Performances will be held at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre at 68 Elora Street South, Harriston. Message-ID: <75f619430811281118p8c1c553l3773b3c00e5effae@mail.gmail.com> Okay, it's not really early warning, since we try to get a message out three weeks in advance. It just seems early since it's still November. Our "third Friday of the month" scheduling puts us a bit late into the holiday season on Friday, December 19th. It's our last KWLT-fundraising show, so we hope that you'll join us. We're taking January off as usual, so if you don't get your Bards fix in December you'll have to wait until February. Seeing as Russ has hosted the last two shows, John will close out the year as your MC. However, for any of this to happen we'll need people to perform. So if you're interested, write back to us and say so! Given the timing, we're also opening the reservations now so that you don't find yourself double-booked. You can reserve by responding to this message or RSVPing on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=60101797032 And since you're such a great audience, we'll have some sort of holiday treat for you! It might be some sort of performance by John and Russ, or it might just be candy. Maybe it's both. You'll have to be there to find out. So join us on Friday, December 19. As always, we'll be at the Waterloo Community Arts Centre. Doors open at 7:30pm, and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $8 if you reserve in advance, and $10 if not. See you then!
