From publicity at kwlt.org Thu Nov 5 23:36:43 2009 From: publicity at kwlt.org (Josh Hoey) Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2009 23:36:43 -0500 Subject: [KWLT Announce] The November One Act Weekends begin tonight Message-ID: <446a6bad0911052036x61c47d42j340294d88bc0f8f4@mail.gmail.com> Just a reminder that the November One Act Weekends are opening tonight at 9 Princess St. East in uptown Waterloo. The One Acts run for eight shows onNovember 5, 6, 7; 12, 13, and 14. All six days have an 8pm evening show and each Saturday features a 2pm afternoon matinee as well. The November One Acts Are: *The Original Last Wish Baby* written by William Seebring and directed by Rob LeGood The Original Last Wish Baby is a fast-paced, high energy look at society's growing fascination with sensationalist, blown-out-of-proportion, larger than life media stories. When a baby is born, lacking a heart but fully alive, nothing about the incident is left unexploited. Filled with dark humour, unexpected moments of comedy, and an unapologetic level of American patriotism, The Original Last Wish Baby is guaranteed to get you to want to buy the t-shirt, the DVD, as well as the special edition, 75th anniversary collector's spoon set. *Reason* written and directed by Mike Kearns -- *Notice: Strong language and mature content.* One gun, one letter, one rule ? survive. Four men wake up in a state of shock trapped in an unidentifiable room. They soon discover they have been placed in this rule with a purpose: to discover how they are all linked ? and because of these links, why three of them must die. Reason is a dramatic and horrific performance which delves into the basic instincts of humanity, including justice, equity and sheer survival instinct. *Romeo and Juliet (A One Act Comedy)* written by William Shakespeare and adapted and directed by Tim Jackson The Troupe of Seven Players is a wandering band of actors. Led by the Comedian, they are in good spirits but often in need of work. Watch as the Troupe acts out Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", perhaps cutting a corner or two, to the condensed version as read by the Narrator. The Troupe of Seven players is a creation inspired from David Pinski's one act play, "A Dollar". The show will go on at the newly rebuild Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre at 9 Princess St. East in Uptown Waterloo. Map: tinyurl.com/9princess Tickets are $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Radio Leacock features radio adaptations of writings by Canadian humourist Stephen Leacock, set during a live radio broadcast on Christmas Eve, 1943. A snow storm hits the station, forcing a motley crew of station employees to keep the show on air. As they read their way through the alternating wit and warmth of a Leacock Christmas, a mismatched radio show cast discovers its own definition of ?peace on earth, good will to men?. For the first time, the Lost & Found ensemble will perform in the theatre they helped build as members of the now defunct Theatre & Company -- the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts (formerly known as the King Street Theatre Centre). "It will be fantastic to be back performing in a space that I helped to build,? says ensemble member Alan K. Sapp. ?In many ways, I feel like Lost & Found is picking up where we left off, when many of us left Theatre & Company. I truly see this as a homecoming." Radio Leacock features performances by Alan K. Sapp, Kathleen Sheehy, Gary Kirkham and Nicole Lee Quesnel and introduces Emma Roszell and Brad Cook into the cast with scenic design by David Antscherl and lighting design by Kari Kokko. As per Lost & Found holiday tradition, non-perishable food donations for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region will be collected and a door prize draw will be held after each performance.
