Bio: Janelle began her relationship with the stage at the age of 3, in the traditional blue tutu & sequins - unfortunately it doesn’t fit anymore. Janelle has stage managed for over 40 dance companies and independent choreographers including the National Ballet of Canada, Dance theatre David Earle, Danny Grossman Dance Company, Tiger Princess Dance Projects and Peggy Baker Dance Projects. She has toured Malaysia & Singapore with the Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre as well as across Canada with Kaeja dâ Dance. In the realm of theatre, Janelle has had the pleasure of working with Theatre & Company (Kitchener), Theatre Cambridge and the Globe Theatre (Regina). In 2005 she began working as a production manager for theatre and dance for companies including the Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Ottawa), ProArteDanza, Le Théâtre français de Toronto and IMPACT Festival (Kitchener).
In 2006 Janelle was asked to join the management team of the S.M.Arts Conference (Stage Managing the Arts) with Winston Morgan, an annual conference for and about stage management. In 2010 she took over as director of the organization. The organization was awarded the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association’s Award of Distinction in 2013 for its contribution to providing professional development and training for stage managers across Canada for over 15 years.
She is currently working full time as Production Manager/Theatre Manager for the Department of Drama and Speech Communication at the University of Waterloo and teaching stage management at UWaterloo and Ryerson Theatre School.
