One of the “big three” rock musicals, Hair is a product of the hippie counterculture and sexual revolution of the 1960s. The story of a group of politically active, long-haired hippies living a bohemian life and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War, its songs and story became anthems of the peace movement. This raw and emotional play is an intimate examination of the fight for ownership of the characters’ bodies, values, right, identities, sexuality and ideas, a fight that is every bit as relevant today.
