The roots of personal devastation are sowed in a public tragedy as an ordinary family is thrown into crisis by a terrible act of public violence that their son escaped... or thought he did. Moving backwards in time to explore the aftermath of the 1989 Montreal Massacre, Jean’s parents, Benoît and Kathleen, try to help their only son cope with the unthinkable.
The December Man features three characters who appear on stage:
- Jean Emile Fournier (22 M): An engineering student in Montreal. He is the only son of Kathleen and Benoît.
- Kathleen (Kate) Fournier (62 F): Fiercely devoted to her only child, who she had later in life. She cleans houses.
- Benoît Fournier (59 M): Jean’s father. A factory worker.
We are also looking for three additional voice actors (18–70 M) to provide voice-overs. These actors must be able to speak French with a Quebecois accent.
For more information about the auditions and rehearsal process, see the attached information page below. We encourage actors to sign up in advance for an audition slot.
