The Giver, Adapted by Eric Coble from the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry.

Saturday, May 23rd 8pm at the Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre, 9 Princess St. E. Waterloo.

Admission by donation to the theatre.

Join a fantastic cast as they explore what perfect control does to a society.

12-year-old Jonas is just like everyone else. Or at least, he thinks he is until he is chosen for a particular honour. Jonas will be trained to hold the memories of his entire community. Through Jonas's journey from a life without variation to a true understanding of the nature of his crumbling utopia, The Giver reflects on the ultimate cost of order.

The reading will be followed by a discussion continuing the exploration.

Does total control create a utopian dream? What would you do without war, fear, hatred and pain? What if it costs you love, choice and art? What does freedom mean?
