Call For Artist Proposals

By on

The Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre invites proposals from local artists for its “KWLT Little Stars” campaign. Proposals can be made by filling out the attached form and submitting it electronically to or by mail to 9 Princess Street East, Waterloo ON N2J 2H4.

About KWLT Little Stars Campaign:

Now in its second year, the Little Stars campaign thanks donors who contribute $50 or more to the KWLT during

the campaign with a small piece of locally made art. Last year, the piece was a metal Christmas tree ornament in the shape of a star with a personalized name stamped on it. This year the campaign will run from November 7th through December 5th, with the “Stars” art to be delivered no later than December 11th.

Who can submit:

The contest is open to all artists working in Waterloo Region. Amateur artists may submit proposals, but the proposed piece should be of professional quality and original design.

Theme and form:

We would like to continue in the theme of “stars,” broadly interpreted. The material, form, and function of the piece proposed are up to the artist. Thematic tie-ins to the holiday season, the production of “Cinderella: a Pantomime” that will be running in parallel to the campaign, or to our 80th season celebrations are all welcome. Proposed items can be purely decorative art (such as mobiles or window ornaments) or they can be functional art (such as cards or Christmas ornaments). The main requirement is that they should have broad appeal to our members and supporters.

KWLT will pay $15 per piece. Artists should plan their designs and materials accordingly.

Expect a minimum volume of 25. If an artist wishes to submit a design valued at greater than $15/piece, the KWLT may be able to provide a charitable gift receipt for the difference between $15/item and the artist’s valuation.
