Popcorn Plays 2016 Call for Participants

Have you ever been interested in theatre but too overwhelmed by the idea of directing or stage managing a play? Or too scared to step out into the limelight? Or maybe you just aren’t sure where you’d fit in?

Now’s your chance! KWLT is offering a FREE workshop where you can have a taste of what it’s like and end with being a part of a Popcorn Play production! Popcorn Plays is a KWLT tradition where we put together a show using a number of 10 min plays.

What this FREE workshop offers:

Experienced mentors ready, willing and happy to share their knowledge and expertise

  • Start with an idea and end with a live show! Not only will you learn how to put on a production, each participant will direct, act and stage manage a 10 minute play!
  • Training and education about many different aspects of theatre.

Workshops include:

  • Intro to Theatre/Safety and Set Design & Build
  • Acting  
  • Stage Management
  • Lighting and Sound Design & Booth
  • Costume Design and Props Workshops
  • Directing and Script Selection
  • Producing

Deadline to sign up: March 31st

Timing: 2 workshops per Sunday afternoon or one on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting on Sunday April 10th, turning into 3 rehearsals a week, ending with 6 shows on July 14th, 15th, 16th; 21st, 22nd, 23rd.

To sign up for this FREE workshop, all you have to do is email KWLT's Artistic Director and give us your name and a brief description of your theatre experience.

If you want to attend one or more of the workshops without participating in the entire production you can sign up and pay $10 per workshop or $15 for 2 workshops.
