Getting an audition isn’t the same as booking the job. In this workshop, Jimmy will talk about the importance of choosing the right monologue for your audition.
The workshop will be held in the first-floor flex space at 44 Gaukel Street.
This is presented as part of the Popcorn Plays workshop series. Popcorn Play workshops are free to members of KWLT; non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be asked to pay $5 on arrival. Register for this workshop here.
About Jimmy
Jimmy Chimarios, born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, is a multifaceted actor, vriter, producer, director, and creator of the romantic comedy Dimitri Goes tc Hollywood. His passion for acting ignited in elementary school , playing the Bailiff in The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf, where his humorous delivery captivated audiences. After graduating high school, Jimmy pursued a banking career, becoming the youngest branch manager at a major international firm.
The 2008 financial crisis redirected him to acting at age 28, leading to stunt roles in blockbusters like Pompeii and Robocop, and supporting roles in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Section 31, alongside stars like Michelle Yeoh and Patrick Stewart.
About the Popcorn Plays
This summer we brought back an old KWLT tradition: the Popcorn Plays give participants an opportunity to try a little bit of everything, theatrically speaking. Each participant chose a short play to direct, with the cast chosen from among the other participants. We’ve been offering a series of workshops to give the participants some grounding in different aspects of theatre practice, and opening them up to our membership so that more people can join in the fun.
The 2025 Popcorn Plays programme is supported by the Arts Grant Fund and the Motz Family Endowment, both hosted at Waterloo Region Community Foundation.
