KWLT’s ultimate theatrical competition is back for year 11. If you’d like to speed-run the production experience for a week in March, here’s your chance!
What is March Madness? On a Friday night, production teams receive a script. It’s short, about 10 minutes of run time. It’s vague, so the teams have to decide on the who and what, where and when. And it’s the same script for each team. They’ve got a week to turn the script into a play, and that starts with finding actors.
That’s where you come in. Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 9, noon until 4pm at KWLT’s Princess Street theatre. We welcome you to prepare a monologue, either read or memorized; if you don’t have one, we’ll have a few options available on site. You’ll be auditioning for all of the teams at once, so don’t be surprised if you’re asked to try a wide range of things in the room.
KWLT’s March Madness will be performed one week later, on Saturday, March 16, with an adjudicator given out awards and the audience voting for their favourite interpretation. It’s fun! And hectic. But mostly fun!
Interested? You can sign up here, or just show up on the day — walk-ins are always welcome.
