Twin siblings, Simon and Janine, living in Canada, unravel the secrets of their mother’s past, Nawal, after her death amidst the haunting echoes of Lebanon’s civil war. In a quest that spans continents and generations, they unravel the truth behind many years of Nawal’s deafening silence and explore their origins through her story. As the past collides with the present, they come to understand the interconnected roots of their family’s narrative and their tangled realities.

Production team openings
The production team is also still looking for a couple more volunteers:
- We’re looking for a costume designer to design costumes for about 15 characters played by 9 cast members (some actors playing multiple characters). The cast will be changing clothes a few times throughout the show, so we’re looking for easy changeable clothes for smooth transitions! There will be some exploration with cultural Lebanese clothes for part of the story. If you feel you have something to offer and you’re up to play with some fabric this spring, please apply!
- We’re looking for a creative lighting designer who can join efforts with the director to bring the vision and essence of the story to life. Scorched is dependent on lighting as the play spans over different times and years. If you’re looking to explore with lights this spring and contribute to the creative vision of Scorched, we’ll be happy to have you part of the team!
If you’re interested in taking on either of those roles, you can reach the production team at scorched@kwlt.org.
