Call for participants: Unpopped Kernels Festival

The New Works Collective is looking for actors and a director for several short works by Derek Czajkowski to be presented on September 25th as part of the Unpopped Kernels Festival.

If you are interested in any of the roles listed below, or in directing one of the pieces listed, email Derek for copies of the script(s).

Once actors and directors have been found, reharsals will be scheduled at 44 Gaukel St. There will also be time in the theatre between September 20-24 for rehearsal. The rehearsal schedule will not be intense, but dependent on the actors’ and director’s schedules. For Wiggle Room and Yuri, these works could be presented as staged readings. There is no expectation to be off book, but some level of preparation is required.

Wiggle Room

This is a short domestic scene between a husband and a wife. The script is about five pages. Roles:

• Bill (male), Nancy’s husband
• Nancy (female), Bill’s wife

Yuri

This is a short monologue. It’s part of a larger work with the current working title of Romanovia. Role:

• Yuri (male), a solider

Feet

This is more of a performance piece than a conventional play. There is no dialogue. The shoe shine vendor repeats the same line a few times. Other than that, there are no words. Roles:

• Viv (female), a homeless woman
• Jesus (male)
• Shoe shine vendor (any gender)
