At the dawn of humanity, one tribe of cave-people survives the many trials of prehistoric life under the wise leadership of Jemilla, the Peacemaker. Jemilla taught her people to express themselves, rather than bashing each other’s heads with rocks and eating each other’s babies. But one member of the tribe doesn’t seem to fit in: Zazzalil. She’s always trying to invent things to make life easier… for herself. While out hatching her latest scheme, Zazzalil stumbles upon the most important discovery in history: one that will pit her tribe against woolly mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers, one that will change the world forever. She’ll travel from omega to alpha, and become… the Firebringer!

Audition information

Now casting tribe-leading, baby-eating, duck-praising, work-doing, sky-holding, food-tasting, finger-painting, balls-smelling, fire-bringing homo sapiens of all kinds! 

Auditions will be held in MC4020, Math and Computer building, UW campus on March 18-20, 7-10pm; callbacks will be on March 21 if needed. Plan your commute in advance to ensure time to travel to the location from transit or offsite parking.

We encourage actors to sign up in advance and fill out the audition information form, but walk-ins are always welcome. You can find more information on the audition process at the Audition Notice.

About the characters

Firebringer boasts a cast of 11 singing and dancing homo sapiens: 

• Jamilla is the leader of the tribe. Charismatic, confident, protective, and motherly, but a little arrogant and stuck in past ways.
• Zazzalil is one of the tribe’s gatherers. A creative and innovative, but lazy inventor. Revolutionary thinker, but doesn’t always consider the consequences of their actions.
• Keeri is the tribe’s head gatherer. Ignorant but kind and empathetic. Zazzalil’s supportive Best Friend.
• Molag is the tribe’s former leader who has passed on the role to Jemilla, and is now walking the Earth while serving as our comic narrator.
• Emberly is the tribe taste tester. Analytical, cautious but curious to learn or experience new things.
• Grunt is an Outsider to the tribe. Timid and sensitive, wants to feel included and tries hard to do so despite failures.
• Schwoopsie is a member of the tribe. A comedian who seems to enjoy the attention from making tribemates happy.
• Ducker is the religious leader of the tribe. Uses position in the tribe for their own gain. Self-serving and opportunistic.
• Tiblyn is the hard worker of the tribe. Loyal and dedicated to the tribe and their task, a hopeless romantic.
• Smelly-Balls is the “dude” of the tribe. Not so bright. When it comes to bravery, all bark and no bite.
• Chorn is the odd one of the tribe. Their vocabulary is seemingly limited. They do attempt to communicate to the tribe despite this to a varying degree of success.
