KWLT’s New Works Festival: Saturday evening

On August 23–25, KWLT’s New Works Collective presents a showcase of new plays and monologues written by its members!

The festival consists of four shows, each one featuring a different selection of works. Our Saturday evening performance showcases plays featuring decision points, characters who can’t continue on their current paths:

Andi’s Voicemail by Mel Mah, directed by Zivy Hardy: A phone leaves a voicemail for its person, who has recently gone through a breakup. Performed by Katherine Schill

I Quit by Morgan Anderson, directed by Diana Lobb: Dr. Laura Campbell has quit her job as a Literature professor in the wake of university budget cuts, and started a career as a YouTuber; this is why. Performed by Oriana Abrahamse

Out of Ordar by Tim Finnigan, directed by Matt Walsh: The night before they leave their hideout in the small town of Ordar to fix a recent mistake, two second-rate thieves get a surprise when their recent mistake just happens to show up. Performed by Josh Brach (Hewitt), Kieron Higgs (Mink), Kyle Logue (Sylvie), and Shirley Ma (Nicki)

Admission is pay-what-you-can; reservations are available through EventBrite.

Funding for the New Works Festival is provided by a grant from the Musagetes Fund held at Waterloo Regional Community Foundation, as well as sponsorships by River Family Dentistry and Heffner Lexus Toyota.
