KWLT is holding its 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 25, and we’re looking for candidates to stand for election to our Board of Directors.
The Board the KWLT’s governing body, charged with administering the theatre’s various activities and setting budgets and policies. The Board has monthly meetings that typically run for two hours (or a little more). Additionally, some Board members take on roles as officers of the theatre, such as:
- President, overseeing the operations of the Board as a whole and representing the theatre externally;
- Vice-President, overseeing fundraising efforts for the theatre (grants, donations, sponsorships) and liaising with other arts and civic organizations on behalf of KWLT;
- Secretary, keeping minutes of Board meetings and other official documents;
- Finance Director (Treasurer), overseeing the theatre’s finances and accounts;
- Membership Director, maintaining the roster of KWLT members;
- Rentals Manager, overseeing rentals and bookings of the KWLT theatre space and managing access.
Not every Board member holds an office — some members serve in an at-large capacity. All Board members are expected to participate in KWLT’s organizational committees.
If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, you can nominate yourself by filling out this form. (Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the AGM, but the candidate must be present to accept.) To join the Board of Directors you must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, and not be an undischarged bankrupt. Board members are elected to two-year terms: those elected at the 2024 AGM are expected to serve on the 2024–25 and 2025–26 Boards.
If you have any questions, or would like to learn more about the Board and what it does, contact Adrienne at president@kwlt.org.
